For this evening Glen’s shares his Goodies; the Mac turns 40 years old; iOS 17.4 is released; and Glen is sharing his experience using the Vision Pro. We hope you members will share your experience using device apps on your phone to control everyday items in your home. Whether it’s a doorbell, latches, garage doors. thermostats, robot vacuums, or any thing that makes your life somewhat easier.
This should prove to be very enlightening to all of us. We hope you will join us.

FEBRUARY 13, 2024 - JOINT MEETING WITH CAPMAC AND GAMUG:

The agenda is as follows: Help desk 6:30-7:00; meeting starts at 7 pm; introduction of officers of both groups; Q&A session for those who have questions or need suggestions; Glen will present a brief Glen’s Goodies of news, tips & tricks; at 7:30 Dave Hamilton, the co-host of the longstanding Mac Geek Gab Podcast, will talk on the Consumer Electronics Show.

JANUARY 9, 2024 - JOINT MEETING WITH CAPMAC AND GAMUG:
For this evening we will be having a joint meeting with CAPMac, an Austin Texas user group. The agenda is as follows: Help desk 6:30-7:00; meeting starts at 7 pm; introduction of officers of both groups; Q&A session for those who have questions or need suggestions; members share new products (hardware of software) they acquired over the holidays; Glen Goodies of news, tips & tricks; CAPMac’s Nathan Lott will present two apps - Lifecycle and the new Apple Journal app; Steve Maynard will present on HomeKit smart plugs and switches; and finally CAPMac’s Cokie will present the app Capsule.
This should prove to be an exciting new adventure for both users groups. We hope you will join us.

DECEMBER 12, 2023 - APPLE TRIVIA GAME and MEMBERSHIP REWARDS DRAWING:
For this evening our president, John Connor, has created four rounds of five Apple-themed trivia questions. Zoom will allow us to breakout into smaller teams to answer the questions, then we will come back to the main group to go over the answers. To play all you need is to bring a piece of paper and pen or pencil with you to the meeting.

The teams of 3 or 4 players will be formed randomly with the number of teams determined by the number of total participants at tonight’s meeting. When you are in your smaller groups, you will see the five questions and have a maximum of seven minutes to discuss and record your answers. (Teams are on their honor not to look up any answers.) When you finish your answers, or that time limit is reached, you can come back to the main room and John will go over the answers for that round.

Each team will keep track of how many they got right and then the teams will be sent back to their small groups to answer the next set of questions. When all four rounds are completed, teams will be asked how many total questions out of 20 they have right. We anticipate $15 and $10 Apple gift certificates for the first and second place teams respectively.

At the end of the trivia game, the membership rewards drawing will be held and four lucky members will be chosen to receive a $100 Apple gift certificate. Anyone is welcome to play, so invite your friends.

NOVEMBER 14, 2023 - iOS 17, GOODIES; NEW M3 MACBOOK PROS & 24-INCH M3 iMACS; WALLET APP ON THE iPHONE:
This evening will focus on Apple’s new M3 MacBook Pros and M3 iMacs. Glen’s Goodies will continue with the features of iOS 17 that he didn’t finish last month. And the many uses of the Wallet app on your phone.
The meeting will also have a brief Q&A period and anyone with new software or hardware is asked to give us a review.

We will show portions of that morning’s keynote of all the new and updated products that Apple is expected to announce: iPhone 15, four likely models and their availability, new Apple Watches and other possible accessory updates. It is also expected that they will announce when iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma will be available.

Apple Pay has been around for a while but now Apple allows you to choose to pay later with no interest charge. iOS 16.4 just made its debut; we will show many of the new features available now on our phones. Microsoft has released Bing Chat and we will discuss it’s use. Finally, you probably have a large number of photos on your phone, so we will discuss how to rid your phone of duplicates.
